On September 29 and 30, Clémentine Margaine performs Martucci’s La canzone dei ricordi at the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg.

La Canzone dei Ricordi, or “The Song of Memories” is a song cycle that sets to music seven poems by Rocco Pagliera. It was originally composed as a work for voice and piano and was later arranged for soprano and orchestra. This piece is historically significant because it’s the first Italian orchestral song cycle.

The rest of the program features Berlioz’s Le carnaval romain and his Ouverture caractéristique, Op. 9, as well as Mendelssohn’s Italian Symphony.
