After critically acclaimed house debuts in ‘Carmen’ at both The Metropolitan Opera and Opéra National de Paris, Ms. Margaine will once again portray her signature role for her Semperoper debut in Dresden. She is joined by Yonghoon Lee as Don José, Genia Kühmeier as Micaëla, and Martin-Jan Nijhof as Escamillo in a production by Axel Köhler. Maestro Giampaolo Bisanti leads the performances on June 16, 18, & 23. Ms. Margaine’s embodiment of Carmen has been revered not only for her “effortless” singing but also for her “fearless” acting and “grounded sensuality” (DC Theater Scene).
